Clarity, voice, and systems for small businesses ready
to grow.

You don't need another idea. You need clarity and a voice your customers connect with.

When operations live in people’s heads, everything feels heavier.

When the business lives in your head, everything feels heavier.

Your onboarding process isn’t written down. Files are scattered across drives and folders. Your team asks the same questions every week because the answers were never documented.

And when everything depends on you, it’s hard to step back and think about the bigger picture - your message, your direction, and how customers connect with what you do.

Most boutique and specialty retail businesses don’t fall apart all at once.

They slowly become heavier and harder to manage alone.

I know that weight well.

What 18 Years in Specialty Retail
Taught Me

Specialty retail is demanding.

Margins are tight. Staffing changes. Vendor terms matter. Inventory timing matters. Small inefficiencies compound quickly.

For 18 years I owned and operated a specialty retail business and handled the daily realities that come with it — hiring, scheduling, purchasing, vendor relationships, documentation, customer service, and the constant stream of decisions that keep a business moving.

That experience shapes the way I support other business owners.

Practical.
Steady.
Grounded in what actually works inside a small operation.

The goal isn’t to overhaul what already works. It’s to bring clarity - to the way the business runs, the way the message is shared, and the way customers connect with it.

About Janelle

Based in Southwest Ohio, with over a decade of remote collaboration experience, the approach is simple:

Clarity over complexity.
Consistency over reaction.
Reliable follow-through over constant supervision.

Support designed to make the business easier to lead, and easier for customers to connect with.

How I can plug into a business

Specialty retailers and small businesses don’t need more noise. They need steady structure behind the scenes so owners can focus on what matters most - their customers, their message, and the direction of the business.

When workflows are unclear and systems live in people’s heads, margin thins, staff confusion grows, and ownership carries more than it should.

My work focuses on strengthening the operational foundation of the business so leaders have the space to think clearly, communicate their vision, and reconnect with the purpose behind the work.

Support may include:

• Clarifying how inventory, staffing, and communication actually function
• Identifying where time and margin are quietly leaking
• Building structure that supports daily execution
• Reducing operational strain on ownership

This is not corporate theory layered onto a small retail environment. It’s practical structure built around the realities of specialty retail - vendor management, buying cycles, staffing variability, and daily sales pressure.

Operational support may also include:

• Documented systems that create consistency across shifts
• Clear onboarding and training frameworks
• Defined workflows that reduce dropped details
• Structured planning for buying and staffing
• Communication rhythms that support managers and teams

The goal is simple:

Clarity in operations.
Consistency across the team.
Space for the owner to lead the business and reconnect with their customers.

Who my work is a
good fit for

• Are growing but their systems haven’t caught up
• Need clarity around processes, documentation, and accountability
• Feel buried in day-to-day operations

How support is structured

Support is typically structured as ongoing monthly engagements, allowing me to work within the business consistently and strengthen operations over time.

Longer-term, embedded roles are also possible when deeper implementation, planning, and leadership support are needed.

What you can expect from working with me

• A steady, reliable presence you can count on
• Practical solutions grounded in real-world retail experience
• Clear communication and consistent follow-through
• Respect for your existing systems, team, and priorities
